Project Details

Hope you enjoy our video! Btw, I am the guy holding the duck! This was our actual demo presentation, hence no music, because we were talking over it. We took upon the task of designing and creating a proposal to improve user experience in-store. We decided to use Augmented Reality to create an interactive menu for every product in-store. Customer would just download our app and open the camera function. After doing this they just have to aim the camera at any given product and an AR pop-up menu would come out of the product with important information. The important information would be discounts, links to tutorials, other potential items to pair with, and some other basic features. This project allows for extension and customization of the pop-up menu for the needs of Best Buy. It was implemented using ARKit, the Augmented Reality Package from Apple. During the process of creating this project I got to experience and learn other AR and graphics libraries like three.js and argon.js. In our video you can see an actual demo of our program at 1:12.

Here is a video taken during out development process, as you can tell, my teammates are having an intense conversation about heaphones! At this point our program still needed some improvements but you can see the core of our project and our idea of how a menu would look! Also important to note, the duck was our testing object but we could traing our AR project to focus on headphones, a printer, or anything that you would be able to find in Best Buy! In second 1:12 in our video you can see it working on the headphones, which was the project we demoed! Also, VERY IMPORTANT, we used a project by brianadvent as reference to understand how to scan a 3d object and how to display an image like the one in our video, so we give him credit for that.
